“Strains” is another misused word in cannabis. It is appropriate for describing different types of bacteria. For plants, the correct term to describe different varieties chosen for their growing properties is “cultivars.”
A lot of people have been told that “Sativa” means energizing, or “indica” means sedating. These words have been misused and we think it is important to clear this up. The term “Sativa” actually just means “a cultivated variety,” and “indica” refers to those genetics originating in India.
